I am collecting IC chips to mail in and need some advice on processing them.

Are all of the above considered to be IC Chips?

And is it wise to cut off the (nickel?) plated copper heat sinks?

Update:
on further inspection of the forum, I found my answers. Question is closed! Hooray!

Only the far right and top are IC chips. The other components Boardsort doesn’t purchase

The others that are not IC chips, here, are considered Dirty Brass, I know it is copper inside, but here, if the copper has other components, other than steel, on it we call it dirty brass. Still worth money and they weigh a lot when you fill a bucket. Check your scrap yard and see what they call it, they may have a low grade copper price for you.

Yes, space is correct. Some of the larger yards also have an electric engineering” class for electronics components as well. Which is slightly higher than dirty brass and CBM rates.
Cbm and dirty brass usually cover the same class of materials anything that is majority weight copper that has non valuable materials. Non-Al Motors, transformers, ICs and solid state electronics including pictured. Wire ends go here too. :)

Here is another thought, if you crack off the plastic, sometimes they are ceramic, but break them off until you have only copper left on them that you can get a number 2 copper rate. They do not fall under number 1 copper as they are not pure copper they have the silver color coating on them. But for me, I just put them in dirty brass.

If you break them off cleanly Boardsort will take it as silver plated brass.

Cleanly meaning bare metal. No plastic or ceramic.
Many have a steel stud ring as well; which needs to be removed or clipped off.
