What kinds of ic chips does boardsort buy

just about any. take a look at the gallery. some ICs get sorted out as CPUs in their own classes as well

Are these ics? The black 4 legged square.....white 4 legged.

Unfortunately there’s no ICs (integrated circuit)s in either photo.
ICs will have a minimum of 6 contact points. Be it pins or flat gold contacts.
To date no full run production of single in-line pin (sip) (as pictured with the wire ceramic pieces) ICs exist.
Even the earliest 40s-50s prototypes and low production IC chips had 5 pins, 2 positive, two negative, and a fault pin.
