Maybe I'm missing something but why do pinless go for less than standard flat ic chips. Pinless have more gold.

A pinless chip has less gold on it and with the metal top on most pinless CPU chips, it would require more work to refine without contaminating a chemical solution to recover the gold.

Ohkay makes sense for pinless fiber. But old ceramics? like sun server chips?
Was just thinking is all.
For now i /usually/ just smash them and sell them for recovery locally. I get $12/lb here.
:)
One of my wondering moments.
Thanks For the quick reply.

The pin chips with gold on both sides go in double gold cap cpus. Sun chips without gold caps, with pins go in Pentium/mac ceramic
