I have a few Intel i486 DX2 CPU chips with a blue aluminum heat sink attached. I've tried several way of dis-attaching the heat sink, but to no avail. Any suggestions?? Will Boardsort purchase these CPUs with the heat sink attached??
Thanks..

Did you try a heat gun? They tend to pop loose when the thermal consistency reaches about 300°F
Set a gun to 650-800 or "high" on fixed settings guns. Takes about 30-45 seconds

As an alternative a propane touch works in a pinch.

Safety gear.
Two pliers or tongs or locking wrenches
Safety glasses.
Using heat gun set it directly above the heat sinc sinc-side-up.
Wait about 45 seconds
Grab top fins of sinc with your grippers.and lift up slightly . Gently bang side of of sinc with other grippers
Should pop loose for you on the vibrations alone. With a nice little pop sound.

Caution all items will be hot after heating. ;)
