Hello,

Have you ever thought about making a flowchart? Something to help guide users in indentifing boards.

Thank you,
Frankie

Interesting idea.
For now all of the links on the payout rates page are clickable and bring up samples.

The only problem I have with the sample photos is on the stainless steel category. I move a lot of stainless, in various grades and shapes. However, when I see the forks and spoons shown as samples, I go eat another bowl of ice cream and take another nap instead of sorting more boards. But then, I can't think of a suitable sample pic for what the e-scrapper would recognize, unless doing large machinery with computer control panels.

As far as my understanding Stainless is straightforward. BoardSort buys 300-series stainless and related (non-magnetic/semi-magnetic) alloys as stainless.

I don’t know if they buy 200- or 400- series as anything special or not. I’ll have to ask.

Then again yes the photo is very confusing. I’ll bring this up.
Almost no flatware is a 300-series stainless.
So... now I just got confused. I’ll ask Chris for clarification.

Thank you for pointing out the discrepancy in our stainless listing.

The $0.25/lb (price as of this post) stainless that we offer is for standard non-magnetic 304 series stainless steel. The picture that was in place for it did not accurately depict that grade. As was pointed out, flatware is generally a lower grade and would not qualify for that listed rate.

I have since updated the name in the price list to more accurately reflect the SS grade and I changed the picture to a SS sink which is more commonly bought as 304.

Thanks again everyone for the keen observation.

Nice new sink. Lol.

Steel is an alloy. As such, like aluminium, there are many different levels and grades of it.
Most metal buyers will break steel into two categories of one to three classes each. Steel which is magnetic and stainless which doesn’t stick to a magnetic; or doesn’t want to.

That’s not accurate from a fabrication viewpoint but good enough for the moment.
Steel is one I’ll cover eventually in the other recycling threads.
