I think some folks are missing the forest for the trees...
Whether you are selling to your local yard, or to the folks here on Boardsort, we are still talking about weight. Boardsort created the new classification for these newer-style HDD boards because they are making less money due to the smaller amount of PM's on there. Years of data reduction more than likely pushed their hands into doing this from a business standpoint, plain and simple. Not something the users on here have to try to rationalize. Getting less money for certain boards is a bummer, but cest la vie.
And guys, 3/4 pound of anything is worth more than 1/2 pound of the same material... some folks weren't paying attention in math class.
If you consider yourself just an everyday scrapper, who gives a poop what PM's/MLCC's/rectifiers/oscillators are on a specific board. The only thing that matters for you is the price per pound, unless you have a refinery in your shed.
Lost isn't wrong, but I felt the need to really clarify these points.
