I assume the we 345a relays are mercury. If this is correct, can I safely cut the board and remove all the relays in place. Ive read the post about mercury switches should only be removed by the expects, which clearly does not include me. Are the relays labeled we 348b also mercury? Thank you in advance.
Ross

You've got Mercury all over that board. I wouldn't try doing anything to it except maybe get the Gold Fingers off because that's a easier cut without having to work around the relays

WE could be an indicator of Mercury as well as DO NOT OPEN.

Anytime I see a silver box I give it more attention to make sure.

The 348B and 345A may or may not be strictly mercury related.

Made another edit in response to Lost's reply to clarify and hopefully not cause confusion.

I’m only going to say my methodology to this. It’s a big IF in every possible way!

I trust my tools and keep them very very well. So:
I would cut the edge with the relays off.
Score the board with a knife
Making an initial cut with a small mail and bolt cutter
Then use a set of reinforced shears to make the cut.

But to be blunt, I know what I’m doing with Mercury, how to deal with it if a problem occurs. And the kit to clean it up in case of an accidental leak.

So read up on how to handle that stuff.

Btw, I believe WE stands for western electric.

Thank both of you. Think I will just leave it alone.
