That kinda sucks, I've only ever gotten one aluminum degaussing cable...and I've scrapped hundreds of these...

Unless I'm judging it wrong. When I cut into the wire it's silver colored and doesn't stick to a magnet, so that sounds like aluminum to me.

It does kind of suck. The damn TVs are heavy to lug around for not pulling copper out of them. The real kicker is that the TV that I couldn't get the copper yoke off of was also one with an aluminum degaussing cable, so very little cash out of that heavy sucker.

My condolences. It's a total fluke to get two. I've never seen a single one. :(

Sounds like aluminium. Nothing I say can change that beyond I'm sorry.

Who here would have put a wager on me being a perfect 3-3 when it comes to aluminum cables? Crazy...

If the TVs were identical I'd put the chance at 50/50 for two. But 3?
That's got to be a record!

I have only done about 20 tv's and about 50 crt monitors most had copper degauss wire but the Phillips tv did have aluminum wire so you may want to track which tv's or crt's have aluminum so you can decide if it is worth your trouble to haul it.

No tube TVs or monitors for MOST goodwill locations.

Are we sure it's not silver?

my best guess on the wire I have was much lighter weight wise than the same size bundle of copper wire and I think silver is just a little heaver than the same amount of copper so in my case I think what I have is aluminum
