I have accumulated quite a lot of electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, etc. thru one of my customers that are new / never installed. Have a pretty large quantity. I can try to sell via web but unless someone was to buy large quantities vs. small, the unit pricing would make this cumbersome and time consuming and really small margins. Is there scrap value for these types of items? Any suggestions?

i am not sure what scrap value they might have, but I can confrim that Boardsort doesn't take the canister capacitors... I recently brought up 10lbs of them and they said 'no thank you sir.'

I would look into striking a deal with a local scrap yard... Unless you are talking about the small square ceramic capacitors or the silver chip resistors (both usually come in sealed reels) I don't think there is much in the way of precious metals.

got any pictures?

Value? Yes.
Worth it? Up to you.
If you know they're new fixed price multi quantity auctions on ebay are probably your best bet

As far as scrap
I'd have to come back here later to post a list from the last few weeks of my sales but each and every component, in quantity, can be scrapped. I do so by stripping all my low and midgrade boards to bare board, and some peripheral and motherboards on occasion can actually strip out to better values than the board prices.

In general, excluding ICs, prices range from 15 cents to a dollar and some per pound.
Though you'll need a fairly large, or super friendly, yard to sell anything less than a dozen lbs.

I'll get a list of averages in a few hours.

Thanks for your replies. I know that some of these items have some value to some one, it's just finding that someone. So, I will come up with an inventory list and take some photos and post them. Maybe then you can give some further guidance. The canister capacitors are what I have a huge quantity of...new....probably 10 - 20,000. I think ebay will be the best bet for that.
Have lot of other odds and ends. I'll have to find research any that might contain precious metals. Some components on reels may just need to be trashed if nothing hazardous. Thanks again.

Canister caps run 18-32 cents per lb. they'll get, SHOULD, get number 3 aluminium but you may get Al shred.
Whatever you do don't take a steel class. Because it's not the right pay and if they're paying steel shred it's headed for steel shred and it won't be properly recycled.
There's oils, minerals, and nickel or silver in them.
