Hi,

I am piling up my computer wire, and wondering if plug ends need to be trimmed to go in the mixed wire category.

The only plugs I cut off are gold (go as gold connectors) and power plugs which are nickel or nickel plated brass in most cases. Otherwise no, I don't trim ends off.
A scrap yard will probably pay more for wire without connectors than with but boardsort doesn't sort wires out. Wire is wire.

A follow-up on the mixed wire. Some have these weights on them do they need to be trimmed off? My guess is yes, but want to confirm.

If you're referring to the ferrite beads yes. Doughnuts and hotdog buns should be removed.
