Thank you lostinlodos! Is there any id marks that will help determine battery other than it saying Li_ion?

you will have to just keep your eyes peeled... most are labeled Li_ion, but there are also a number of others:

Li_Me : lithium metal,
Li_MeH: lithium metal hydride,
LI_MeOx: lithium metal oxide
NiCd : NiCad, nickle cadmium
NiMH: Nickle metal hydride
AgOx: silver oxide (often marked 'silver' as well)

and there are more... by far the most common now is the lithium metal batteries.

In reference to the boxes that are usually known as IC battery units, there's a few.
Most will be lithium post 80s or mercury prior to the mid 80s.
Some from the late 80s to mid 90s will be silver. But you never ever want to attempt to open one up. Batteries may be a cell, a canister, or a soft shell.
Lithium goes boom. Mercury is toxic. And while a silver cell is worth 50c a canister would be worth less than 10 and the mix of chemicals is toxic. Playing around in stuff like that is just a bad idea.

But back to the question. On these box types they are "not user replaceable" so they fall outside of labelling laws prior to the late 2000s (08 I believe) as far as requiring markings. Best bet it to look up the numbers on the box, or ask one of us when in doubt. And there's literally many dozens of variants in coding.
I'll be back with more later. ;)

Thank you guys, this info is very valuable to me.

How is it handled if boards have batteries on them during the sort? I have removed all the ones I have seen but just wanted to know what to expect.

Let's be brutal for a moment. Leaving batteries on boards is both dangerous and rude.
That out of the way.
If you miss one battery on one board, or two, you may get an email reminding you to remove them.
If you send many batteries on many boards there's going to be a reduction because once a few are spotted someone will need to go through your entire order to look for and remove every battery, each and every board. That's work not accounted for in the prices.
