Sorry for the absurd amount of boards and large pics I'm looking for help classifying. Here are a bunch of different types of boards I run across fairly often. For some of this batch, I did chop off some gold fingers just for the sake of wasting money playing "gold refiner guy". Batteries will of course be removed prior to shipping. Any numbers that are sandwiched between two boards are showing front and rear of boards. Thanks in advance.

Actually it's very much preferred to NOT embed photos like that and I usually redrop them. Just haven't gotten to it yet.

PCI cards that you have removed the gold fingers from go as 'trimmed gold finger cards'... you have about 5 of them.

The price difference between 'trimmed finger cards' and 'gold-finger cards' makes it inadvisable to trim off the fingers (because you actually loose money).

If you are removing them in order to learn about refining, that's a different matter and may be worth the money lost for the experience gained. But from a strict number stand point it is a loosing proposition in about 95% of cases.

i definitely took a bath on trimming the fingers. i just needed to satisfy my own curiosity/boredom and had a means to responsibly dispose of the acids involved.

are there any boards that can have tantalum caps removed without taking a quick downgrade? i have some peripheral boards in there that have a bunch of tantalum on them.

It's not a big deal. We're a bit more mobile here (users as well as myself)so I try to keep things looking good on the small screen. Embedded photos tend to stretch the default borders which breaks auto zoom on mobile browsers.

MLS is accurate. There IS a different class for trimmed cards and while they're always VERY close if not exactly the same payout trimmed cards SHOULD be sorted separate from peripheral cards despite my classification. Not that I can often tell from photos but they go in different bins at boardsort.

I've found that it takes a LOT of practice to figure out which cards are better trimmed than whole. And no matter how many times I'm wrong I can't help myself trimmed quite a few. Gold fever. Whatever. But I don't refine; I send them in as gold fingers. Lol.

With the exception of heatsinks and and gigantic capacitors and transformers removing anything has a good chance of downgrading a board. Even if we miss it in photos here.
