Wanted your guys thoughts on tearing down laptops or is it better to just send in incomplete vs tearing down for just the motherboard. I get bad laptops from a stop and most are missing HD or memory. Just needed your guys thoughts. Thanks

It’s a mixed premise with stuff from the last 5 years or so.
For older, and current full size, laptops; worth pulling apart.
Large socket class motherboard. Expansion, sometimes telco class reader cards and the like.
A working laptop screen starts at $5 online. None working ones run $2-$$20.
Cracked ones you can sell starting at half a dollar.
Once you figure out the methodology of different brand’s cases it takes under 2 minutes to strip a laptop to screen and parts.

Anything small, ultra portable, netbook, etc, is where this gets dicey.
You could get nothing but mid grade and peripheral boards out of it. You can sometimes get telco or gold capped chip boards.
Most MacBook Air units have just peripheral boards inside but you can flip a dead I cracked screen for $20+. On the other side I’ve seen some ASUS netbooks with gold cap boards that are literally large tablet boards with a screen that’s separated.

Personally I’ll always open them up because I can at least recycle anything I cannot get paid for locally. But escrap remains more a hobby for me than a source of income. Profit is nice but I’m more involved for the recycling and fun of learning. Content to break even.

You can look up LCD buyers on bing or google. Sell broken lcd, etc.
I’ve lost track of which ones I’ve had best results from but I use UBO to blank any site I’ve gotten screwed over by so it simply loads a white screen for me. I don’t sell to empty white pages. ;)
But I’ve done ohkay with most of the ones I’ve tried.

Lost,

I've searched for places to sell LCD monitors and have not had much luck. Mostly what I've seen is buyers for cell phone screens. Am I searching for the wrong thing?

I know harvest cellular did at one point. For many you’ll need to contact them and ask. It varies from time to time what and when they take non site things.

I wasn’t aware of that. You may want to email Chris yourself and ask.

I’m less of the target for many of those site’s adverts in that I’m not pulling parts and flipping them. I have no idea if this screen or that was from an iPhone or Galaxy. I sort cracked, not cracked, and I know it worked. And sell in bulk for whatever they offer me. Generally speaking.
If I bring them to my local yard I get two bucks a pound so by the screen is just a better option. I call and say I have approx x cell phone and y laptop and z sub 22” tv screens and they say send them here’s your label. More or less.

I try to stay away from LCD monitors and tv's, but from time to time I end up with some in a lot with other stuff I've bought. So I strip them down for what I can sell and go on. If I could find a place to sell the whole monitor or tv and make a profit I'm all for it.

I will check with Chris and see what he says, and he may be able to point me in another direction if they don't buy them.

You hit it rdw! That’s exactly my issue. A lot of the sites are geared towards diy and shops.
I just get the stuff as leftovers from whatever else was going on. By the time I get around to actually doing something with them I no longer care enough to try. iPhone stuff is easy because of the home button, but what 17” goes to what device? Forget it.
Occasionally I’ll try to ebay “pile of working lcd screens with no connectors “ as parts and sell a batch of 15 or 20 for $50 or something. But in the end it’s something I just want recycled and don’t care much on.
