Lost,

What would estimate the scrap value of this lot to be?

The listing is fairly vague all it says is the hard drives have either been removed or erased. They do have a list of serial numbers (100 total).

Thanks

That depends: the photo is rather vague as well. If lot 7 is just the single rack
Or the whole set of pallets to the left. Is it sata or sas, or unknown. Is there a controller unit? And an actual server included? Or is it wysiwyg?

Given the very low resolution photo here’s my thoughts:
Rack in front only. Again I really can’t tell from the photo.
Looks like drive cages. My guess is 6 or 8 per tray.
Minus drives. Each tray is worth $10-$25 if they work. The case is another $10 or so.
16x2 on mounts so working $900-$1000 resale value in the drive cages.
Looks like a simple BTX or ITXe server (SCU) up top. If it has the processor and memory, that’s another $200-$300 on the low end.

So working or fixable your at around a grand on the low end.
As pure scrap? Well under $100. The cages will give you a good $1-$2 each from an aluminium mount, a backplane card, and steel frame. May or may not have copper sinks and fans.
The server can pick you up $10 or so in scrap.

Frame is about $30 so as long as nobody bends it it’s a guaranteed sale. I’ve never had a rack mount posted for more than 24 hours. Everyone wants them.

If I was playing safe, I’d be at $150 and walk. Risky gambling at $500 and hope I could repair something out of it to be better than even.

Now if all those pallets are part of it we’re at a VERY different point entirely.

Those pallets have full scale sas drive trays and a bunch of servers to the left.
We’re out of my price range on an auction like that but a “working” value for the whole photo is into five digits.

Ten grand would be an easy flip. And a sad low end. Those trays on the pallets can pop a few grand each.
Everything pictured and all assumed working $50,000 would be easy.
But if anything is missing or broken that tumbles fast. There’s under $500 in total complete scrap on the lot.
That’s why auctions like this are dangerous. If you go in looking at scrap values you can easily loose out to a gambler, but if you go in gambling you can loose everything very easily.

Then it’s the rack unit in front. Personally as I said I’d bail out at $150 but assuming I was told they all worked $350-$500 is my max before your taking on risks.
