99% go as peripheral. The only ones that go any higher are the massive late 90s and early 2000s that are massively large and came in boxes almost the size of an old lay flat desktop and have multiple PCI slots in them. And even then they would get small socket motherboard which is +- 10-20 cents
As far as I know these are limited to ones from Alienware, Gateway, AVA, and and a CyberPower one for Apple laptops. They had a second processor, mega ram comparatively, and for any lay attempt at explanation turned a laptop into a screen for a second computer by sliding it in. They were big heavy powerful units. Today most people confuse them for “strange looking desktop” computers.
