Do the prices differ for the older ram like DDR 1 or 2?
And does the size make a difference like weather is 256 MB or 1 GB?

What lost says is 99% accurate unless it has tin/silver fingers or Metal shielding.

Yes. Removing heat spreaders without damaging the modules will bump it to standard gold finger ram.
