The blue boards are the same just front and back. I have about half a 5 gallon bucket of these, looks like a riser type card but for a laptop.

The other board I figure telco but does that ceramic Sun chip add any value above telco? Or would it loose value if I decide to remove it?

Also, as kind of a side note, I looked up the board online and found a picture without the names above the Sun chip. And some of the names are crossed out on the one I have. Any thoughts on that?

Top photo is peripheral
Bottom photo. If sun GPU/CoP is socketed my suggestion is remove it and get at least pentium ceramic rate (possibly higher if has a gold cap). And telco for the board.
If it’s soldered it will likely go as a slot processor given recent responses from sellers about similar cards.

It’s an extension card for a graphics card. Officially a frame buffer but there are other uses as well. Some NeXT users have made fairly brutal gpgpu systems out of such cards. Telling you how bleeding edge that stuff was. This was the time frame of the Sun/NeXT alliance and when Apple secretly began working with the pair behind IBM’s back. It was meant for the SparcStation but some cable hacking and fancy programming got these running on other systems including Amiga and NeXT systems.
I found one in a PowerMac once. Too bad the system was dead because I’ve always wondered what was involved in moving this stuff off architecture.
As for the names? I’m guessing but logic says those people left the project at some point and it’s less expensive to add an X etch to an existing run vs redoing the lithography for removing them.

Interesting stuff, I picked mine up at a local yard, hard to know what anything comes from when it's all mixed up.

Thanks for the help lost!

There’s a lot of overpriced ones on ebay but no recent sales. The ones I see for suppliers run $20-$35 NOS. So there’s not much value, making trying to sell one untested probably futile. If ebay can’t move new ones at $50....
It’s also a tiny market target, retro, and power/Sparc. And someone who knows enough to program a driver and create a cable. And all the above with the motivation to do so!
But hey at least it’s high quality scrap! ;)

Ps. I see there’s a full sparcstation listed for lower than the card prices, including an optical drive and the card!
