 Post subject: Heatsinks

Ive been keeping them in a box and its starting to fill up, mostly CPU and video card heatsinks. Maybe 15lbs or so, whats the best place to unload these?

Step one is to grab a small flathead screw driver and gouge each one. I've found many (especially smaller ones) are copper.

Don't throw away copper for aluminium prices.

Then take them to a local scrap yard.
You can look up yards local to you and current price ranges on the iscrap forums or use the iscrap app.
You may need to "negotiate" a bit but you should get #1 class AL rate for heatsinks even if they're painted. The al in them is extremely clean.
.. technically you want #1al extruded or spun rate.. about a 1-2¢ difference from standard #1.
Copper would be clean #1 rate even if painted and aluminium copper mixed ones should be clean al cu radiators.
