Hey does anyone know what to do with the old 3.5inch disk drives??? I have quite a few and I do not see a listing on boardsort buying them. I know that they are "quite old tech" but am in a pretty rural area so am seeing them on old puters.

Any ideas???

I break them down since it's just a dozen screws or so in all.
You get aluminum steel copper some wire and a motor.
Some yards buy them whole as aluminium motor, cbm 2, or al 3

board sort buys them as CD/Disk/Floppy Drives IF the board is still on them... otherwise them buy them as shred material (which is probably less than a penny a pound right now).

You are better off taking the board off and sending that in and taking the rest of the drive to a local scrap yard.

The controller board on a 3.5" floppy drive will go as peripheral grade as long as the gold pins are intact on it. Remove the pins and the board goes down to low grade.

I'm new to the board, and a little late on this discussion.... Just not quite clear if the board in floppy drive goes with cd drive boards or peripherals?

Boards from 3.5" drives are always peripheral if the gold pins are intact.

5.25" boards will be peripheral on the low end or cd/dvd controller on the high side. Depending on the board at hand.

8" drive boards are always going to be telco
