With the heavy carbon and tungsten style caps like you have pictured the screwdriver method may not work. For those I can not get loose that HAVE PINS i bake them on an OLD PURE CAST IRON cookie sheet in our oven on the locked self cleaning setting. Gets to about 825 -850 for 30 minutes. Enough to obliterate the glue... and clean the oven from grease and grit at the same time. The lock opens automatically at <500° o i pull them out with gloves and tap them with tongs. And the spreaders slide off with minimal force.

Non+sold spreaders and aluminium caps.
Starting in a recessed corner (where your z is)
Push (gentle for now) a 1, 1.5, or 2mm (000, 00, or 0) diagonally corner to corner as far as light and gental will go.
Remove screwdriver
Using a long blade, non-snap-off box cutter run the blade around all four edges in a CIRCLE. This will cut through any edge sealant they've used.
Insert your 000-0 back in this time in the middle through the centre glue. Push hard but gentle
It may pop here for you... if not using a standard #1 pushing in and out with gentle twisting motions.

don't try a heat gun on those thick caps. Thr time/energy used to heat a heavy spreader enough to remove costs more on your electric bill than the price difference between with/out metal.

K6 2/K6 III without the spreader go amd ceramic
The ceramic opteron cpus like you posted will also go amd ceramic with the caps removed.

Green ones will go green/brown fibre w/o metal if they have pins.
If they don't have pins leave the caps on since they're still pinless chips either way.

Btw the more i look at it i believe that's a thin cap opteron. It's an aluminium nickel alloy spreader. Worth about $2-$2.50 per pound.
