Partial Non-working Laptops (must have screen intact and motherboard inside)

Does INTACT mean screen attached to the laptop or all parts of the screen must be present and unbroken?

Thanks!

the latter. if the screen is mangled or missing parts, they will downgrade them.

Okay, thanks. That's what I thought, but was not sure. I am looking at a couple thousand pounds of laptops and don't know whether to dismantle them or separate the "whole ones" and sell those first and then deal with the "incomplete" ones later.

Thanks again!

personally, if it were me, i would not bother taking them apart... about 5 laptops in you will find that there are so many tiny screws to find and sharp parts and hidden attachments and takes so long to take apart that you will want to throw everyone of them against the wall...not to mention you will have a lot of leftover plastic to deal with.]... if you have that many, separate them out and send them an email to see if they will give you a better price because you have such a large volume. quick, easy, very little time invested, and much cleaner.

I have been scrapping computers for 5 years... i gave up tearing into laptops 4 and a half years ago! :P

Thank you! That's good advice. I have already given up on taking these laptops apart. I will follow your advice and contact Chris to see if I can get flat offer for all of them in as-is condition. I am 8 hours away, so I can just take them over there and try to bargain. I'll have to ship them by freight, and that costs quite a bit of money.

Thanks again for the good advice.

a couple thousand pounds? that might make a trip worthwhile... I'm not sure what freight shipping rates would be, but the price might be high enough to make it worth taking yourself despite the 8 hour drive. You would have to consider fuel costs and a maybe a night at a hotel, but it could be worth the time....

Breaking down a laptop is up to you. In such high volume I'd be hesitant.
Here's my list of where/when to break them down.

I'll be back in a few hours doing this in traffic at moment not all that safe! ;)

Wow! This is a lot of good information to know. Thanks for taking the time to write it out. I will follow your advice mostly, but a few of these items would probably be better stripped off the memory, plastic covers, and hard drives and sold as incomplete. Of course, I still have to deal with 2,000 lbs of "complete" laptops that I don't plan to mess with, other than weigh them.

Thanks again for all the info and your valuable time.
