Any ideas?
Why do used DLP and LCD projectors sell for so much? I've been seeing lots of 10 to 40 selling for as much as $30 to $50 per projector. Keep in mind they are being sold as is / where is and may or may not work......given they are from schools I would venture to say they do or most of them do work and they are being replaced with newer equipment.

Because they're thousands to tens of thousands new?
At $50 something is wrong. In most cases. That's oftly low! They probably need lamps and that's a fair expense.

$547.99 msrp
Still $200-350 new now.
$75-$100 used (some in the sub 75 range)

A replacement lamp will cost $30-$60.

I know this was a while ago but maybe some can learn from my mistake. In a load of computers I bought was a Nec GT5000 projector which I had no use for and I was talking to a young fellow at work about it. It had no remote but it worked and it had 2 lamps with 100% life left on each. He asked how much and I told him $400 and he got excited and jumped on the deal. I found out it was original price over $15000 of course it was 8 years old at the time. I kept my word and sold it to him, he used it for a year and sold it to a pawn shop for the same $400 much more used than when I sold it to him. So I learned to check for value online, I didn't get hurt but I could have done better.

Right on.
There are two things in a projector that make up 90% of the MATERIALS price.
The dsp
And the lamps.
Some $100 projectors on ebay have $500 lamps.
On the other hand buying a $20000 projector with good lamps and a bum dsp for a grand sucks!
