My last load to the scrapyard I had a few lbs of #2 copper from plumbing fixtures, so I grabbed an extra 2lbs of copper windings from transformers. These ranged from super thin (human hair) to some decent thicker windings but my scrap yard would only pay me "refinery copper" price of $0.90 per pound. I know some scrappers get #2 copper price for windings, anyone have experience in this?

I always mixed it in with all my other number 2# and never had a problem. I'd be looking for a new yard.

Second that

If it’s clean I always got #1.
They are messing with your price because of the risk of loosing the pieces. (What? I have to find a bag?)

oh you think that's bad, my local yard makes you forfeit any buckets even plastic ones if you bring in scrap in a bucket... like what, you want me to dump a bunch of small wires on the ground ?
