Was a bit surprised to get this from a neighbor. No power adapter or data cords but it's in the original box and looks in pretty good shape.

New they can get over $50 depending on the drive format, generally they run 5 to $25 but depending on disc type and format method could run anything from a few dollars to a few hundred

Check out Ebay sold prices

Haven't decided what I want to do yet. Could be fun to have it to use but then it may just be one if those projects that never goes anywhere... Figured I'd share the find regardless.

That’s for a zenith laptop. An old 8088 system I believe.
It’s probably set for 180k or 360k 40 or 42 track disks.

I wonder if it would connect to a modern computer? Sadly I tossed all my 5.25 floppies years ago. I had some cool BASIC programs saved on those!

Dunno, I'm holding onto it for now. Don't want to scrap it

They do just fine. However you need an active converter. And some knowledge of file systems as these can only work live with FUSE.
I have two, one for my Mac Studio and one for my BSD machine.

Long wait, sorry, I miss my database.

It’s definitely for a ZDS “portable”. It’s a dual drive: meaning it accepts both 40-track hard and soft track provisioning for writes, software dependent.

It’s capable of reading 18, 20, 22, 40, and 44 track disks.
It can write to, but not format, all of those except 18.

It has no onboard format interpreter beyond the 40-track boot platform. So it’s multi system and multi platform.

You have a gem there.
Ideal sales markets are ebay, digital press, Atari wiki, and commodore forums.
You may get some traction in Apple groups also but, us Apple people rarely stray from paring non-Apple-approved items to our apple products. Still, no reason not to try there too, if you don’t mind the bad feedback a few sheeple will give you.
