Got some old manuals while picking up a couple computers. Owner said they belonged to her dad and I was welcome to them if I wanted them. So I thought they'd be cool to look through but not really something I'm interested in collecting.

They aren't in great shape and the original owner made some notes but if anyone here is interested in paying shipping they're all yours.

FYI
The IA is good at preservation. My methods are destructive. If you want them back or intend to donate them elsewhere, that’s a better choice. I spine and fold cut for a sheet feeder scanner.

I also know some folks that work at IA. I have a pile of stuff I was hoarding to send their way (shovelware, shareware, weird stuff) as well as old IBM "President's Course" stuff that was probably never meant to leave the facility...
If you didn't want to mess with this, I could take the ball and run for you guys with this stuff.

As for shareware, I’ve probably have 20 copies of an anything you have.
Back when I worked for a “gently used” computer company that paid cash for crap, many customers would get angry at no offer and dump their box in the doorway on the way out.

I still don’t understand how you get enraged we didn’t pay for your crap but then left it behind!
Most of it wound up in our trunks or recycling

Makes sense, most people want something for nothing and in your scenario, sounds like they found something in the attic or dumpster and were hoping for $20 for some 40oz's and became enraged when they realized there would be no 40oz's that evening.
Yeah, we get stuff dropped off all the time, whether we ask for it or not (i.e. modern printer drivers) but sometimes, interesting manuals/usable software come through that I generally add to my personal stash and then archive via 5.25 and a device side data board (you could go kryoflux or greasewezel) for my own peace of mind, whether it has been archived already or not via IA.
I generally like to have the physical thing, as complete as possible. This extends to video games as well. Having connections to museums, this is my general attitude toward preservation.

Unfortunately many manuals use trade or perfect binding.
The IA is great for preservation, but have you ever tried to OCR some of their tighter bound books?
Lucky most of the older manuals were ring or coil bound. Making them rebindable. And I have a bindomatic knockoff so I rebind what I can before donating.
It’s not the same but it does the job well enough.

My Game collection and software collection is mostly CIB but… there’s gaps. I’m not paying 5000 for a boxed edition of Cotton. I got the tea cups and it looks good displayed without the slide box. Etc.

But we’re talking back in the 90s. We really didn’t need yet another 4-pack of PC Tools from that magazine at B&N.
Much of the dumped junk now resides in a storage unit And my basement. Surprisingly, some of it is actually valuable today 40 years later. They just came in 30 years too early!

Yeah, video game pricing has become ridiculous. I cringe when I see videos of what I assume are 17 year olds talking about "vintage" consoles like the Gamecube....
That said, the bulk of what I have I bought at the time in the moment (Earthbound and the like included) a lot of times in the bargain bin at Caldor for $9.99. One of the best investments has been to never get rid of anything, computer stuff included.
Hey, I miss the days of packaged utilities or demo discs. It's fun to pop those in from time to time.
