I had been putting them in midgrade without any ics or other population. High peripheral if significant population. If there wasn't much there or I wasn't sure if it could make high I dropped it into low peripheral

Blank, non gold lcd strips are midgrade. Also watch out for ones that have led backlights on them, those are midgrade as well.

Gold flashing or significant ic (they are small) population on the strip and yes it grades as Peripheral High.
