Theres a company out of CA: floppydisk.com
All they do is accept donations of 3.5/5.25/8" disks from folks just looking to get rid of them. They reformat them and sell them back to U.S. government agencies (their largest customer) and other folks looking for magnetic media to use as backups/drivers/boot disks for legacy equipment.
That's it. Interesting business model, but makes sense.

As a retro geek I still use this stuff on a daily basis.
One other company really good with this is
Green Disk
They charge for electronics recycling but sell both floppy disks and all sorts of media cases.

Then again, I’m probably the only person any of you will meet that has a 5.25 in drive plugged into a Mac Studio so… there’s that too. Lol.

Me too.
5.25" in a Mac studio is ridiculous, but entertaining as an experiment.

I use it to run old 8-bit software in emulators

I haven't seen a working 5.25" in... probably close to 30 years.

Thing is the drives are rather easy to maintain by even a novice with simple online guides.
What ends up with so many “dead” mini floppy drives being tossed is the fact that the media dies far faster than an ignored and abandoned to the elements drive. A sad reality.

Many non-retro users would be surprised to hear floppy disks are still produced by small boutique companies. Much of my CPM, Commodore, Atari, and Tandy software has long since been transferred to newer disks and images (multiple times) keeping the originals in the box.
Using actual early Apple disks has always been a problem with though; as the “Woz” drives are non-standard.
But memory road is taking us far outside of topic now.
;)
