My last buying spree netted me a few odd fish I hadn't encountered before although they are common. Several CATV boxes, all shiny aluminum looking metal boxes, 6 inches square, with 10 threaded ports for cable connectors. I assumed the metal was an aluminum alloy, but it is rather heavy. As you can see, the square frame holding the card is also very heavy...this frame and the board together weigh a pound and 6 ounces. Metal doesn't spark when ground on wheel, cuts fairly easily, but too shiny where sanded to be common diecast, I think.
Does this alloy have a name?
Board can be removed by nipping the wire soldered to the board from each of the connectors. No screws holding the board. Board doesn't seem to have much going for it.
