New to this so still just trying to make sure I am sorting correctly. In my research, I see that these are classified as IC chips. Are they grouped in with IC chips when sending them in to Board Sort?

No, those are mosfits, probably spelling it wrong. IC chips (according to boardsort category) need 6 legs (three each side minimum). They don’t buy these separately. Inside them though is bits of copper. Some yards will buy as #2 copper, or dirty brass, or shred. Videos online how to easily process them at home as well. Future reference leave them on board

Thanks for the reply. Just curious, where does it say that Board Sort will only take IC chips with a minimum of six legs? Not doubting, just trying to know where to find specifics like that so that I don’t send in a box organized incorrectly with items they won’t take.

Gold plated or Gold pinned ones you can throw into connector ends. Mostly leave them on unless it's a low/mid grade board and you can take them off for a gold plated end category.
Trail and error about figuring everything out. Even now we still see boards we are unsure of class. An easy way of finding out what is what, go to forums and search the forum for the question or keywords.
