*Usually* , there is a decent IC under the older screens of printer, radios, faxes, and other older small GUI items etc. ; if so I would go for High Per, if not Low Per.

Yes, remove the screen.

Lost has mentioned before that certain types of displays can add value, as far as I know, lcds are not one of those.
