Do I have to organize all the scrap I send or can I just send it all in a box?
I don't have a scale either. I have around 800#s.

Yes. You can send in what you have.
But. Sorting can have it's benefits.
Here to learn like everybody else.
My evaluations are my own opinion.

You definitely have to sort. If not they will simply weigh the box as midgrade and toss it aside to sort themselves some time in the distant future.

As for a scale, you can pick up an entry level one on Amazon or walmart for about $20. They are usually 1oz-20lb scales with an 0.5 accuracy.
Great for weighing boards.

Quick tip. Weigh the empty box first. Then add all the weights of the items you put in the box to that.
When done add 6oz to the total weight for a buffer. That’s your shipping weight since an entry scale can’t handle above 20 lbs or so.

Personally I have these two

Just stay under 50lbs on it.

This one is the same price and absolutely amazing for packages. It’s low end weight spread isn’t usable though. Under 3 ounces it’s rather worthless.

Have two of these. One for the office to weigh packages.
One in the garage to weigh scrap.

scales are pretty cheap & a great idea to own one. I think every house in the world should have a scale regardless what you use it for. You should have a pretty good idea of what you're selling before selling it IMO. I think it's no different than double counting your money when you withdraw cash from the ATM, you know it's going to be correct, but you count it anyways... Just good habit to be in.

I use this scale here, it's pretty cheap & weighs up to <440 lbs., on Amazon, this one is almost identical to what I have, just a different brand.[/i]

You can always go to Wal-Mart & pick up a little kitchen scale that sits on top of the counter, mine reads; 5000*1g/176oz*0.05oz, & I think it was about $10.

Also, I agree with not sending in your boards all just thrown into a container unsorted. I use poly bags I buy from Amazon to keep all of the little things together (ex. RAM, CPUs, Connector Ends, etc.). For my boards, i just use a bit of twine that I got off a spool, and I twist it around each stack of boards in both directions, mainly because the string doesn't hardly add any weight to the package.
The bags, last time I ordered them was 500 bags 10"Wx12"H for $17.00 (roughly $0.03/bag)
The string, don't remember where it came from or price, but I will definatley buy another spool when this one is about out.
