I emailed him earlier today (think so, anyway) - just waiting on a response. But figured I'd post here too.

I would just sell these on ebay. I've sold EDO RAM multiple times with no issue. No idea what he was saying about it being banned or something because it's not.

There's currently a listing for the compaq EDO stick for $30. I bet you could get $40 for both sticks

He has mentioned in the past that selling above or below the accepted price is the main issue with selling EDO. So if someone else actually sold the same for $30 then I would not attempt to sell it for anything other than $30. I would also check to make sure the seller still exists.

I have personally sold EDO ram multiple times. Obviously, I can only speak from my experience but it's definitely not banned on ebay and to be completely blunt it's silly to think there is some EDO mafia disappearing people for selling it at the wrong price

Maybe it's more nuanced than just every single stick of EDO. Maybe it's specific brands or models and a general warning is safer than assuming everyone will take the time to identify what they have.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lost has been a reliable source of information here for years so I'm certainly not going to do anything with the EDO I have for now. I would love to get more information on the dangers associated with it too. Links to articles would be great if anyone has them

I believe the term I used was blacklisted.
Nobody is going to get disappeared over it (I sure hope not). But the reactions, if you do get them, can be quite nasty.

Despite the initial looks, EDO is quite rare over all. It’s also still used in critical infrastructure.

If you sell, stay in the lane for your own sanity. According to ai (yes I’ll use it now and then), roughly 90% of ebay EDO sales are buy it now. The price appears to be $10-$25 per stick depending on profile and capacity. Nobody is gonna cause an issue if you don’t stand out.
Selling two sticks for $99 is gonna get you some nasty messages.

I suggest donating it generally. But that’s just me. (The general donation value for a pair is $30).
I don’t even follow my own advice. I have a few dozen tested strips I keep for when the needy equipment shows up infront of me.

That said:
My general point over time and across multiple sites; don’t scrap it.
