I have a number of these in different brands from TV control boards. I looked up the numbers on it and it's called an IC. The board in it pops out of the plastic cover. The board itself is about 1/16" thick aluminum. How do I classify these? I'll send them without the plastic.

As long as it’s not metal they should be fine in high peripheral.

That's part of the question. When you say "metal" are you talking STEEL, or any metal? The board that all of these components are attached to is aluminum.

The heatsink metal. Usually has a glob of messy thermal paste on it. That needs to be off if you want the best price for what's there.

But then you also lose weight. So may or may not be worth it.

Oh yeah. There were two of them screwed to a huge extruded aluminum heatsink. That's in my extruded aluminum scrap bucket now!

Uh... Okay yes that's a heatsink too...I'm not referring to the huge aluminum chunk that just has a small patch of paste . I'm talking about the piece of on the transistor that is likely completely covered in a glob of paste. That heatsink is what needs to be off for the better grade.

This is all there is. This is the backside of the board. All of the components in the other photo are attached directly to this 1/8" thick piece of aluminum. Maybe it's a heat sink, but this IS the board.

I’ve put the aluminium ones in high peripheral without issue.
It’s heavy steel ones that are a problem.

Oh...maybe I misunderstood you when we discussed it before
