What does the brass/copper pile usually go as? ... Dirty yellow brass or something else?

It should go as either yellow or red brass, I only say red brass because of the amount of copper that it has on it. Copper will not lower the value of brass because it is worth more than the brass, and it is also one of the main alloying components, along with zinc.

If your yard is lowering the price on you for having copper attached to brass, then you should find a new yard.

Definitely!
A mix of copper and brass would either be dirty copper or brass: depending on how much copper you have.

But the title is cable ends?
Like electrical cords and component/composite cable ends?
This is different!

Cable ends are a generic type until they reach the highest level of the recycling pyramid.

Generally they’re classed as electrical scrap, heavy/dirty wire, etc.
If the yard does enough business in them you may get some form of copper or brass shred.

I think trestm was referring to AAK's post on how to remove the male connector pins from power cord ends, it is a mix of brass and copper. Correct?

Yep this was my inquiry - thanks for the info! I hadn't asked or tried to pass it off as brass at my yard yet so this info is good to know.

Good afternoon,

I was curious if anyone cuts off the SATA power connectors from the PSU wires and sells them with their connector ends. I believe there is a bit of gold inside those connectors. I am new to scrapping and boardsort so, thanks for the feedback.

I do as long as the payout rate is above or equal to the shipping rate.
