Any idea on what to do with the non gold hard rubber connector ends from power cords? Same with the plastic connectors from the power supply's that are not gold plated?

Thank you!

Most people leave them on the cables. Boardsort takes cables with or without ends at the same price.
Large scrap yards will have clean and trimmed rates or harness vs standard.
If you have a large yard bring the bin for some sort of recovery rate.

Yes, leave those babies on the harness or wires. Extra weight and you still get #2 low grade Cu wire. My yard doesn't care because they wire recovery chop in house.

What would the PSU ends contain? Tin, silver, nickel?

Usually tin. Aluminium on junk units. Gold for gamers because gold is pretty and makes people go all Bad Romance.

I've personally tested it (shredding/milling followed by gravity separation)

actually wire from PSU (wire harness) yields about 2-3 times more copper by weight compared to IDE, LAN, VGA, power & etc. cables... about 50-60% for PSU compared to 20-30% for the rest of it

so if you have large volume and are manually disassembling PSU units or are cutting wires off of them - I'd suggest separating these cables - PSU wire harness copper content is actually comparable to automotive wire (much higher in copper than low-current computer wire ~ 60-70% by weight)...

My yard wants the connectors from the wire removed other wise it is downgraded. I was thinking about how to separate the brass from the connectors that go into your household wall socket.

Thank you all for the information!

I just cut them off with a nail trimmer. The hardware tool, not the healthcare tool.

I hold the plug with slip joint pliers and with diagonal cutters in the other hand you can easily pull, twist or roll the Brass bits out of the plug. Not as fast as using a cutoff wheel but it doesn't involve the overhead of the electricity and cutoff wheels.

Here is my quick and dirty solution to remove the tabs from the connector on the male end of power cords.

3 holes in a piece of old angle iron
insert the plug end
Rotate the tabs out with vice grips
Produce a pile of brass and copper

The copper wire segments inside the plug usually pull out with the tab.
