What should I do with this? I acquired it a couple years from the curb. And it has been sitting around for a while. Many pictures shown. Sorry about the rotated pictures. If you have a question on what the picture is I can somewhat tell you.

Thank you!

Wow old Magnavox!
I you like to tinker it looks like most of the unit is salvageable.

If not you can always sell it on like offer up or the like. $20 or so should get a bite. (I’d probably drop up to $40 in that condition if it was down the block).

Worst case call Amvets or the like.
Stuff like that rarely needs to be tossed. Someone somewhere wants it

Btw fully working with replacement parts can fetch a few hundred if you sand and varnish it (never stain this stuff) as well.

Find working original parts and the sky’s the limit on price.

I somehow forgot to put the word ago in between the words years and from. I don't know if it works or not have not tested it yet. Some of the vineer is coming off or already has.

Thank you!

Hence my tinkering statement.
Replacing parts on stuff like this isn’t the least expensive investment you’ll undertake in life but well worth it as it’s easy to find modern-ish replacements that are, or are nearly, drop in replacements. And a few hundred is a goon rate in general for that era.

On the other hand if you managed to spend the next 5 years of ebay searches fruitful and found working, era, parts for repairs? I’ve seen era stuff from 40s-60s and into the early 70s so high 3s easy and sometimes into 4 or even 5 digits depending On the skill of the restoration.

And if you do pursue this: be warned everyone has an opinion. I’m guilty too. But the fact is those who are not actually part of the market (think people selling you supplies for the task) will tell you not to varnish or repair the wood.
They are partly (DIY channel) right.
It’s worth far more to the most hardcore collectors with untouched wood.
But for every one of those HCs there’s 50 people with a retro bug who will drop a grand or so for the nostalgia if they can drop it next to the entertainment centre in the game room type people.

Don't know where you are located, but I can set you up with around 4 different restorers of old radios here in Albany, NY area. If you're relatively close, it might be worth a short drive for you.

Aww c'mon it's only a 10 hour drive if you don't stop and average 100mph the whole way!
That said, plug the sucker in and see if it hums. If you can test the tubes to see if everything is strong, depending on the type of tube the radio uses, you can sell those alone for anywhere from $5 bucks to several hundred if they are Western Electric (very sought after).
If you don't want to put in all that work, the metal chassis is something you could sell as a unit and ship with relative ease with a metric ton of bubble wrap. Given the age of the Radio, and the fact she has a 78 player, my guess is that there's not a whole lot of spare parts out there.
It would be sad to see you tear her apart like that, since this is a serious piece of 40's nostalgia that is disappearing rapidly.
Heck, I'm interested but getting it here would probably cost a couple hundred bucks on a skid. Not to mention the wife would murder me in my sleep.

I’m facing the same obstacle. I would love to come buy that off of you but it’s quite a drive and the reality is I’m not good at finishing jobs.
It would sit in the basement half finished for a few years and may never get fully complete till I find a 78 I want to play.
