So let’s quickly break down what is inside those heads.
From the giant 4 track of the pre 60s to the miniature nanometer level heads for 1” spinning hard disks.

Outer shell: steel. Newer ones use an iron nickel chromium steel. Older ones use iron nickel and aluminium steel.
Iron ferrite band.
The actual head arm.
(post 76)Signal controller IC.

Inside:
Copper coil.
Steel coil
Compressed Head package

Compressed head package:
Contact- often ferrite

Soft Metallic ceramic —:
Ranges.
NFe
NGa
NMg
Etc.

Conductive film
Rhodium spacer
Metallic spacer- varies by age and manufacturer

Each with a rubber or plastic foam spacer between them, depending on age.


Bias braces
2x
CoPtCr is most common today.
