I have a new Adaptec AVA-2820 SCSI/IDE controller board and was wondering if its worth anything other than scrap price. I could not find much on the internet about it outside a few post made on a collector forum. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t= ... tart=30780

Any help is appreciated.

According to the manual it is port active supporting both wide and narrow band SCSI 1 and 2.
Here’s the kicker for you. The IDE port is also line active and self switching. Supporting bot IDE and ATA1.
Despit common misuse IDE is NOT ATA/PATA! The pin-out is different.

These mid 486 era adaptors are popular. Though somewhat rare. A true IDE board can fetch $25+! Adding a switched SCSI port I’d put this around $50.
These depend on an actual, real, system clock and low level access so they don’t work well with Win95, 98, or ME. Should work with any NT base though.
I know there’s support in Linux and most BSDs. And Mac via a breakout box over FireWire, or thunderbolt 2 or 3.

Specs:
SCSI 1, 2, wide or narrow
Fast SCSI 2

IDE, EIDE,
ATA1 support with a firmware update or patch.

I would call or email sell broke dot com first. And see if they’re interested.
If not ebay is the easiest place.

These sell well enough. Be patient. The two biggest buying groups are retro tech users and long time Apple users.
I actually have a slightly older one in a breakout box for connecting a LaserWriter. For some very specific uses.

Lot of use in business as well as they work with the IBM T and 300 series retail systems. They make the cash drawer pop out. Lol.
