Couple weeks ago, the refurbishers quickly drove tech out of my price range. I'm not too proud to buy and scrap steel, so a Gaylord with several "empty" electrical boxes was mine for scrap steel prices. Sure enough, no big payday was hidden in the bottom, butI had caught a glimpse of green in one of the photos. Sure enough three of the boxes had a backplane measuring 12 x28 and weighing 4 1/2 pounds each. Total board weight 14 pounds.

I helped my daughter and a few friends with some metal clean up and was able to take 840 lbs of steel into scrapyard at 8 cents per pound so my payout was $67 as well as helping a few people get rid of items they did not want. Since I am retired it was like found money. Of course if you can't get tech scrap there is nothing wrong with other scrap if you have time and the way to move and haul it. You are helping people and the environment and get a few bucks, it is a win all the way around.
