Good morning. What I thought was low telecom turned out to be high peripheral and I am cool with that. Anyway I did figure out they We were Telecom. You can answer me this question. I sure hope the DVRs I am scrapping are worth it. I know they have hard drives,CPUs,and flat packs but those screws drive me "batty" are they worth the time?

Most times Cable:satellite DVRs are going to be high peripheral.

There are exceptions but if you’re after time:profit margins DVRs aren’t the place to be looking.

You won’t be finding anything of major value in DVRs until you enter the realm of high end home theatre stuff and industrial security.
Unlike consumer DVRs which are low end embedded computer systems; the HTAV equipment tends to be full computers AND be mostly socketed everything.
They also rarely make it into scrap given how easy they are to repair and how expensive they are.
Even mega corps don’t scrap $20k DVRs when a rom goes bad.

Thanks for the information on the "DVRs". I have some of those security bits with a screwdriver attachment so I will be able to make quick work of them at least.

It you have the bits to open the cases it’s quick and simple.

The board screws are usually 5, 6, 8, or 9 in count. 5 is most common.
2, 3, 4, or 5 for separated power boards. 3 is most common.
