Thank you. Will scrap about half of the chips for now. I will keep the rectifier chips and probably put them on eBay. I think I have 6 of those still in the tube new.

It has been quite some time since I have posted on the forum. I am finally getting back to working on the massive collection of vintage ICs and what to do with them. I came across this pack of old 321-BN and 322-BN. The chips are white ceramic with gold cap on top and bottom and gold pins.

Can anyone identify the manufacturer? I can't match up the logo.

I also can't find a datasheet for these, so I am unsure of what they are. Manufacture years are 1969 and 1970.

Stumped. I don’t have an entry, yet. I’m finding matching references and design from ETL from 1968 and 1969.a Japanese firm that worked with Fairchild in the 70s.
Either as a solid register unit or SRAM.

And the logo remind me of the old Fairchild logo.

I’ve seen the logo before. Either in an early electro-typewriter or something similar. But it was a LONG time ago. I’ve bookmarked this. I’ll keep looking.

Hello Lost,

Thank you for looking and replying. Please do let me know if you are able to track this down. My searches pretty much came up empty.

Seems like this might be a rather rare or oddball chip. In such cases, is there a collector market? I really hate to scrap them if they are something that someone is looking for. I have more than what is shown.

Two companies use a similar font, Simmons and Fairchild.
That’s my starting point.

AAK,

I'd be interested in purchasing the AMD AM99C88 chips if you havn't dispositioned them yet. I try to stockpile these (among others) for use when they are NOS like these.

Let me know. You can contact me at my user name within gmail.

Thearchivebooks,
Ok, I will contact you by gmail. I only have 2 of that chip. I have hundreds of other vintage chip types (mostly 1960's - 1990's production). Thanks!

Ok, here we go. Fun times.
This comes from a Vietnamese friend who worked for a one of the (then) few companies in Taipei that was pressing chips at the time.
I’m not sure how correct he is, but:

Both chips are eeprom chips used as controllers. They are part or of the FC/AB (later MOS) 4 series. The missing 4 donates bin-saves. They failed to hold save states without live power
They were reused/sold as ram chips. He doesn’t recognise the logs but also recalls seeing it.

It does make sense. My first thought was control roms based on the layout and…
16 pin, late 60s design. Post microcontroller but pre-ICP.

My thoughts: possibly page storage for an electrotype style machine. I popped the shells on some old dedicated systems and can’t find a match. Rest assured I’ll keep looking even after you forget about them. ;)
Not knowing a chip is for me like a giant metal sliver in the bum. I can’t shake that not-right feeling.
