 Post subject: Breaking boards

I have some rather long boards (15 inches) and I was curious if there would be a penalty to break the boards to get them to fit in a smaller box.

It depends on the board in question and whether boardsort is able to readily identify that two pieces of board are actually one board.

For instance:

if you break a stick of desktop RAM in half without losing any chips you're probably not facing a downgrade, or

if you break a motherboard in half and the two halves aren't keep together, you're definitely facing a downgrade, dependent on exactly what components ended up on each half but if you keep the pieces together so boardsort can see both halves are there then.

Try to rubber band the pieces together, seems like a good idea to me.
