When sending these in:
Do you remove the plastic shell? If so, how?
What is the correct category?

Thank you,
Barre

Yes. Look at the sides, the little clips on the side near the top. Just shove a small screwdriver or plastic opener gently into the tabs and twist.

I like jackhammers for these.

Oh, thanks. I should probably mention that there are shells with rivets. HP, had a line. PIIIs with sinks.
Haven’t ever seen a riveted PII though.

For riveted plastic shells I break the tabs. Then use one of my trusty Gerbers to cut through the plastic around the the rivets.

Every scrapper should have a Gerber or a Jaguar.
Expensive, but definitely worth it. Especially with the (also expensive) blade chip warranty.

That is the plastic front? What about the metal back to it?

I assume you found one with a heatsink back. It’s normally thermal past.
Look for screws or rivets first, then:
Just gently slide a screwdriver gently into each side between the processor board and the heatsink. Wiggle and a twist gently.
I suggest doing it from the top. The board is slightly thicker on the top vs bottom and you further protect the fingers.
