Here is a rough breakdown of what is in a crypto mining box. This is my experience with Antminer S9 units. Newer models are a bit different. The main box is extruded aluminum. It weighs two pounds. Some yards buy it as extruded, others deduct a bit for the plastic label and the spring steel clips holding the control board box in place. There are short cables connecting the control board to the hashboards. The control board, about 4x5 inches, should go as high peripheral. It takes six to eight to make a pound. There are three hashboards in the aluminum casing. Each weighs two pounds with the aluminum heat sinks. The heat sinks total weight on both sides is a little less than a pound and a half. With the heatsinks on the board, the board goes as midgrade, so the three boards in each box will bring approximately $2.40 or so. With the heatsinks removed, Chris said the boards would be more than midgrade, but less than low peripheral. By my rough calculations, the uncleaned boards delivered to Boardsort will net about the same yield as the cleaned boards. The difference is the reduction in volume to be delivered. Most yards give me clip or extrusion prices for the heatsink, but some who don't have a specific buyer for those 1 inch square heatsinks buy them as breakage at 18 cents, (Yep, I dug 200 pounds back out of the hopper to take to another yard which paid extruded prices. Each aluminum case has a four or five inch fan on either end, which I sell as shred steel locally. As for the antminer power supplies, the unit weighs approximately 4 pounds whole, maybe 4 1/4 with the wiring. The powersupply board without the steel housing and power wire is a bit over three pounds each. They go as midgrade, since they are green board. I am still debating on removing large aluminum heat sinks and several transformers, and some copper bars. These power supply boards have a think layer of solder on the backside I'll post photos later. Removing the heat sinks on the hasboards is time consuming until one figures out his approack. I finally bought a flat drill press vice, to stand the board upright, then use a cheap machete to whack the heatsinks. Once I got my technique, I could make about $30 an hour worth of aluminum heat sinks. Yep, waste of time. Only $1200 for 40 hour labor. If you are acquiring units with the hope of reselling, most will be defective, with a major burn section. The heat at which they operate (A group of ten units in operation will give off enough heat to warm a 2000 square foot warehouse. Also, if the units were not well maintained, they will be clogged with lint and dust, which led to excessive overheating and burnt boards or connectors. Due to the weight and volume, the only part feasible for shipping to Boardsort (unless you have the gaylord quantities for commercial shipping) is the high peripheral power board. Once the hashboards are cleaned, I can pack about 60 boards, weighing approximately 50 pounds in a plastic produce crate I get for free from the Hispanic grocery. These same crates will hold 16-20 mid grade power supply boards weighing about 60 pounds, so each crate holds about 30-35 dollars worth of boards.
