 Post subject: classification please

Have no idea on this one, seems to be more than just a backplane board? Any help would be appreciated!

My first guess is telco if the top right of the pic that rectangle has dozens of small tightly packed gold pins.
Otherwise it is probably backplane
You're exceeding well past the contents of a standard mobo.

I would consider it as a dual small socket motherboard given the appearance of two soldered CPU chips on the board.

Kind of a fluke board.
Kgryczan makes a good point.
It's definitely a sub shelf breakout board with its own pci controllers.
Sort of like a jumbo gigantic pci card.

Best solution in this case is probably to send an email to Chris/boardsort with a photo and ask directly.

The deciding factor will rest on the boards flashing and if that rectangle is a pg65 (gold pin) connector. So make sure to get the best quality photos you can take of the board and the pin connector.

Fyi pg65 connectors are ALWAYS gold plated nickel/Mg alloy -- not steel. So if you have a small magnet see if it sticks.
