Hello all, I have some cards from an enterprise class PBX circa 1999 that I need help grading. There are several different types but these 4 are a good representation of the range. Hoping to get enough info to be able to grade the remainder accurately. The pins in the connectors are gold plated. Thanks in advance!

Until I can get to a computer (phone just doesn't cut it on some of these photos) I'm going to say A-C are at least low telco.

D, are the missing chips not there because they were removed or because the board wasn't manufactured with them? Removed chips can make a difference in the grade and I'm on the fence between high peripheral and low telco. If no chips have been removed then I'd lean much more to low telco but if they were removed then I'm still on the fence but leaning high peripheral.

Thanks!

On "D" nothing has been removed, there are just solder points for different IC packages that can use the same PCB. If you look at "C", it is the same PCB as "D" (flipped 180 degrees from each other) It just served a different function on the system thus a different IC arrangement.

Is there any general advice on how to quote stuff like this? It is not nearly as straight forward as some of the other categories (i.e. sata va non sata HDD boards). Is it better to quote optimistically and accept a downgrade, quote pessimistically and hope for an upgrade, or ask for every piece I am uncertain on?

I appreciate the help. I am new to this

Okay, definitely better on my computer:

A) Low Telco

B) That looks like a Gold Cap Chip a little higher than halfway up toward the right side. Totally missed it before, that's going to go Gold Cap Chip Board.

C) I think this can manage High Telco

D) I'm leaning Low Telco.

This post by jojo has compiled several useful posts that's good reference.

Generally you want to get as close as you can; always feel free to post here to get other opinions or email Chris (boardsort) if we're not helping. We try but sometimes it's too unique or we're too busy; when in doubt I go down a grade.
If you happen to be near enough to boardsort to deliver in person I've heard great things about the employees being willing to go through the material you are unsure of (just don't bring them a ton of unsorted material and expect them to do all the work, that's just rude).
If you're shipping this can become a challenge cause you want to maximize what you can fit into a box, but if you can, separate anything you're not sure of within the grade you know it'll clear so that it can be easily pulled if it can be upgraded. For example, if you have a bunch of high and low telco you're sure of but have a couple boards that you're not sure can make high, keep those two boards together and separated at the top of your low telco and mark them somehow "???Can these go high???" or something like that. If it can, they'll move it and adjust the weights.

The more you do this and become familiar with different boards the fewer questions you'll have over time; don't worry if it feels like you're asking a million questions we've all been there.
