I can't believe I never thought of busting one open, it was not until I saw a youtube video by mike tech fixing one that I was like, hay that's a IC chip and I been tossing them out lol. Thanks for letting me know its good to send the bare IC in.

I replace the batteries myself.
$2 for a battery or $20 for a clock?

But yes I’ve sent battery free clocks

kinda crazy to fix them IMO, anything using Dallas clocks are rather old and not really usable and if they are setting the clock after a power outage is well... not a big deal

We need to add Mercury relays to this list as well. I always forget about these buggers. Rare but out there still.
