Never seen anything like that, contacting Chris probably is best.

Gold caps presumably and what looks like gold tracings so probably a high scrap value item. Then there's whatever is on it to make it look shiny, if that's something that cleans off without damaging the board, might be good to do.

looks like a really big IC that's been cut apart and glued poured all over it. what a odd ball chip. Id email Chris too.
