yes as long as you did not remove the ics it will go as gold ram
and the tin ones are the same way as ;long as you did not devalue them it will go as tim/silver/ram.

I'm going to Change my own statement on the hard drives.
Actually looking now while awake they may be magnesium...

Though not actually an alloy (duh)
If so bring them to a large yard that buys ewaste. You should get Al iso#12 alloy.
#12 alloy is a mix of Aluminium nickel and a special bronze made of copper magnesium and gold @ 1/20th rl-ml. It's commonly found in industrial laser scanners.
Try iscrapapp for local yards.
Al ay-12 is 68¢ this morning

This is something you'd be best local because of the weight

As an alternative you can strip old ones like these. If the platters are a brown colour the platters are a then-standard nickel disc with a gold layer. Not the micro sprayed platinum on aluminium
Gold platters run nickel rate ($4.15/lb) +20%-25%

Thanks for all the input. Unfortunately, The area in which I live does not have much as far as recycling centers. I am planning on taking another trip to Cleveland next week so I think I will just take them as HD w/o Boards.

Are these the brown disks we are referring to? I have placed a silver coloured one in the photo for comparison.

Yes that is them!
Nickel is running 3.80-4.10 during the week. Gold rate fell below 950 this week at one point.
:(
The platters still run around $4/lb if they buy precious metals though.

Or acid bath them for nickel and gold split.
There's a thread on the gold refiners forum under escrap that's stickied for those platters. If you're into that sort of thing but there's not enough in just a handful to cover the cost of refining.
