I don’t mind grading.

Generally I start at peripheral and go from there. No ICs? Probably a lower class unless it’s a backplane.
To hop into low telco you need something special. Could be a dozen or so soldered ram chips. Extensive controller population. A ram riser, 12 or more gold pin ram sockets.
High telco is a very difficult class to fall into. Only a few specific boards fall there. Most are:
Very old telecom equipment. Mid:late 80s and earlier.
Aerospace and defence equipment
High end gold finger cards (Titan, FX, SSDs)
Memory boards

Learning is just a matter of practice. It took me years to get most of the Boardsort classes nearly correct on sight and I still ask Chris on occasion.

For the gold plated pin, do I have to remove the pins from the silicon? I see in the payout page the for the gold plated pin catgory picture there is only the pins by themselves

The third one down?
No. There’s two categories here.

Gold pin CONNECTOR
And gold plated pins

This is in the former.

Pulling pins out of anything above midgrade is generally pointless. You get more for the board/connector as is than the pins alone.
